About the Role

Based in Alderney, the Director of Licensing is to manage and lead the licensing function of the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, overseeing investigations and the co-ordination of enforcement action. This is a senior appointment at the Commission.

Key Areas

The key performance areas of this position will include:

  • Providing legal guidance relating to the Alderney eGambling Ordinance

  • Oversee applicant investigations

  • Prepare and report on Executive Committee papers

  • Authorise and co-ordinate enforcement action

  • Maintain and develop regulatory and legislative structure and policy

  • Oversee the internal secretariat function

  • Render legal advice to the Executive Committee

  • Liaise with the AeGL, Alderney Registry, Corporate Service Providers and Law Officers

  • Contribute to the strategic forum

Key Skills

The Director of Licensing should display the following ongoing key skills:

  • Qualified legal professional 

  • Experience in the eGambling sector desirable 

  • Investigative skills relating to large and complex corporate structures

  • Understanding of ML/TF/PF typologies and the exploitation of legal persons and arrangements

  • Ability to understand and interpret Alderney legislation

  • The ability to express difficult concepts in a clear and concise manner

  • The ability to work under pressure and provide practical and decisive advice, sometimes in urgent situations

  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written, with the ability to deal with people at all levels

  • The ability to work as part of a team and a commitment to team working

The Director of Licensing will report to the Executive Director.
